I have had to change Sunday’s walk, as some of you already know, because the intended walk did not work out at the recce stage.
The walk will now be from the Fogon, at the usual time of 10.00, to the flank of El Agudo and return.
The distance will be approx 12Km and the overall height gain will be 225m, much of which is at the beginning of the walk. The altitude differential between lowest and highest points is only 148m. The beginning and end of the walk will be on tarmac, but most of it will be on unmade roads and a few tracks. The views from the top of the ridge and from the flank of El Agudo, the pointy one, are splendid. We did this walk about this time last year, but didn’t see the views from the flank of El Agudo, because by then we were in low flying cloud! However, the forecast for Sunday looks better, if a tad cooler than of late at about 10C.
The going is pretty good and is suitable for most people, the moderate grade is based on the length rather than the difficulty of the walk and does demand some stamina…! I estimate 3 to 3.5 hours for a group walk.
I already have some bookings for Sunday Lunch at Veinte Ocho (28) in HDLF and if you fancy that after the walk please let me know by Thursday evening so that I may adjust the table accordingly. If you don’t fancy a Sunday Lunch then Bar Rayca will be open for Tapas etc, again let me know if you want to go there so that I may warn the Bar staff.
