“Ron’s Walk on Sunday the 13th of April.

The walk on Sunday, 13th April went very well, 16 people set off from the Cemetery in Macisvenda and 21 returned…! No, we didn’t raise any of the dead; one family was a little late, but we picked them up on the way. It was a rather warm morning, but the group set off with great determination and after the fairly gentle climb on metalled and unmade roads to the flank of the hill we started the main climb. Everyone made it up the side of the hill, which is trackless with lose stone over bedrock, and we eventually came out onto the old quarry service road. Most then went on up the even steeper track to the quarry face, but one or two decided that a short rest in the shade was in order. The views were very good and the weather was quite clear, so we could see well past Fortuna.

Once everyone had regrouped we wended our way down a quite rough and challenging path until we regained an unmade road, from there it was plain sailing beck to the Cemetery. So, 2 hours and 20 minutes after setting off we regained the car park with healthy appetites demanding to be sated with Sunday Lunch.

Thank you Ron, another good walk in the Macisvenda area.”
