Post Walk Update from Phil: (You’ll find pictures on the gallery page)
Twenty-six walkers and 3 dogs, eventually found the RV and split into 2 parties. Patricia, who not only is the developer of this walk, but was also celebrating her birthday, led some of the group off on a straightforward track, whilst the more adventurous ones followed Philip to see what trouble he could get them into!
Both groups arrived unscathed at the same viewing point on the flank of Monte Alto and reformed into a single group to admire the, admittedly slightly hazy, views before proceeding on the rest of the walk at the top of the track leading up to Monte Alto and then down to the Albatera road. Philip pointed out the track that we will take next Friday when we go out on the Monte Alto Ridge. Judging from the response, he didn’t discourage many people. So, as ever, subject to weather conditions, see you on the hill on Friday for Part 2 of the Monte Alto month! We will start from the Town hall this time! (Philip was told that providing a map to the RV point wasn’t fair as maps are a man thing!)
Walk Description: The basic walk is a relatively short and easy hill walk on tracks and roads with repeated short climbs and descents. However, there is an option to make it a bit more challenging, so we will have two walk leaders. Patricia, whose walk this is will lead the people taking the easier route and Philip will lead the people taking the more adventurous route. The distances are about the same, but there is a fairly steep climb/scramble on the route that Philip will take.
Both parties will meet at a viewing point and will continue the walk together. If the distance is a bit short for you there is also the option of starting from the village and climbing up to the start point following the map link above, this will add 2.5Km to the route if you get a lift back down or 5Km if you walk up and back so plenty of opportunities for everyone. (If you opt to walk to the start point, please allow sufficient time to get there for 10.00.)
Equipment: Walking boots providing ankle support recommended and a stick or pole if you feel uncomfortable on loose footings.
Dogs: The walk with Patricia is suitable for well behaved dogs under owner control.
