New Season … 2017 to 2018

Hi all,

Well, here we are, the Fiestas are over and the temperatures are starting to decline. So it must be time to start thinking about the next season’s walking!

2 Walks in September 2017

» Walk 601 :  The Aspe Amble
15th of September
» Walk 601 : The Stone Circular
29th of September

I propose 2 walks in September, the first to be on Friday, the 15th of September and known as the Aspe Amble because it is more of a social event than a serious walk and the second on Friday, the 29th of September a circular walk in the hills above Albatera, but one rated as easy, the idea being to get back into walking fitness and to introduce new members to the group.

New Recruits Needed

I will be advertising for new members via the local bulletin board, but if you know of anyone wanting to join us please do bring them with you to ensure that they get to the RV.

No booking necessary, just turn up. But please do remember that we aim to set off on time and will only wait for people if we know that they are no further than 5 min away @10.00am.

6th Year! WOW!

This season will be the 6th for our group, hence the numbering of the walks. I do intend to introduce some new walks this year, whilst also revisiting some old friends. Hopefully we will be able to introduce the first new walk in October. Having been quite busy with the village Fiesta during our closed period I am certainly looking forward to getting back on the mountains.

I attach the detailed instructions for the two September walks, please read them carefully, in conjunction with the footer notes to ensure that you come along with appropriate footwear and kit.

If you are bringing friends, please also ensure that they know what to wear and bring. It sometimes seems to surprise people that living where we do we engage in hill walking! I don’t have a walk after the 1st one that does not involve some hill climbing and descending, but I always try to ensure that the difficulty levels are clearly stated in the write ups.

So please don’t ask for short flat walks, the only ones that I can think of are along the main roads at the bottom of the valley, in amongst the traffic and associated fumes, and I am not going there! 🙂

See you at the RV just before 10.00am on the 15th of September!
